Before opening The Bella Inn, Innkeepers Donna and Said Rhafiri originally opened Aioli — a fine dining restaurant with a casual atmosphere — in the historic McClure Printing building in downtown Staunton in July of 2011. Said was born in Cassablanca, Moracco and studied in Florence, Italy. Donna, a Staunton native, who moved to California for a while, found herself lured back to Staunton, “The best city in the Shenandoah Valley”. Donna works part time as a nurse at UVA. She enjoys working with Said and meeting new people from all over the world.
When the McClure building became available in 2014, Donna and Said purchased it to expand the previous McClure rooms above Aioli into two full apartments, now the Bella Inn. They are happy to offer their guests the full experience of living in the heart of downtown Staunton, voted “One of the 20 Best Small Towns in America” by Smithsonian Magazine.
